This library then multiplexes the streams and encodes them in RTP packets, which it then stuffs into a socket. At the other end of the socket (in the operating system kernel), UDP packets are generated and embedded in IP packets. If the computer is on an Ethernet, the IP packets are then put in Ethernet frames for transmission. The protocol stack for this situation is shown in Fig. 6-25(a). The packet nesting is shown in Fig. 6-25(b).
